Central Kentucky Games, band and drumming events canceled; piping still on

The band contest, and solo drumming events at the Central Kentucky Games on Sept. 17, 2016, have been cancelled by the organizers.

The solo piping events will go on as scheduled.

Refunds will be issued to all bands and solo drummers who entered the contest.  Sorry for the cancellation but again out of our control.

 

2016 Wisconsin Highland Games at Waukesha results

The results of the MWPBA band and solo contests at the 2016 Wisconsin Highland Games at Waukesha, WI on Saturday September 3 are now available (band results, solo results).

The band results summary is as follows:

2016 World Pipe Band Championships Links

The World Pipe Band Championships for 2016 (Grade 1) start August 12, 10:30 BST (04:30 CDT in Chicago), and will be streamed live, over the internet.

 

The link to Friday's qualifying events is here.

 

Of the 21 bands entered, 14 will move past the qualifying rounds to the finals on Saturday, August 13, 10:15 BST (4:15 CDT in Chicago).

The final results from all grades will be part of Saturday's stream.

 

The MWPBA wishes the best of luck to all competing bands, particularly our member bands that have journeyed to Glasgow Green to compete!

 

Flint Scottish Pipe Band Seeking New Pipe Major

The Flint Scottish Pipe Band, based out of Flint, MI, is currently seeking a new pipe major for its organization.

Springfield Area Highland Games and Celtic Festival Cancelled

The Springfield Area Highland Games and Celtic Festival has been cancelled due to the extreme heat warning in the area.

"THE SPRINGFIELD GAMES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT WARNING!!!  PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO WAS PLANNING ON ATTENDING!!!"
 
Thank you to everyone who was planning on attending, and to everyone who helped put the event together.  It was a tough decision to make, but the right one based on the extreme heat forecast.

Minnesota Highland Games 2016 Results

The results of the MWPBA band and solo contests at the 2016 Minnesota Highland Games at Eagan, MN on Saturday July 9 are now available (band results, solo results).

The band results summary is as follows:

Grade 3 MSR (1) : 1. Macalester College
Grade 3 Medley (1) : 1. Macalester College (BDC, BBS)

Grade 4 MSR (2) : 1. Twin Cities Metro 2. Brian Boru

2016 Games Update - Grade 3 band contest added to Columbus and Kentucky

Grade 3 band events have been added to the contests taking place at the Columbus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, and at the Central Kentucky Celtic Festival and Highland Games, on September 10 and 17, respectively.  Prize money for these new events are listed here.

 

The games forms have been updated, and bands can enter these contests immediately.
