The Greater Midwest Pipe Band, is under the direction of Pipe Major Adrian Melvin, Pipe Sergeant Lindsay Todd-Barr, and Leading Drummer Ryan Barr. Chris Barr and Mike Cole are part of the band leadership, as is Cole’s wife, Mary Jane (MJ), the band manager. A primary objective of the band is to compete at the Grade Two level beginning with the 2014 season, if Grade Two status is approved by the Midwest Pipe Band Association. The band is looking for Grade One through Grade Three level players, with the leadership specifically expressing their commitment to work with individual Grade Three players wanting to develop their skills to a higher level. Practices will start in the fall in Chicago, Detroit, and the Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids areas, with the once monthly required practice of the full band being in Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids.
