Band competition rosters are due March 31.  A $100 late fee will be assessed for rosters received aftter March 31. (Bands newly registering after this date are excepted).

Bands must notify the MWPBA Band Registrar, in writing, of the transfer of members from one band to another ten (10) days prior to an MWPBA sanctioned competition in which such band member(s) will compete.  Bands must notify the MWPBA Band Registrar, in writing, of any new members not previously registered with any band four (4) days prior to an MWPBA sanctioned competition in which such band member(s) will compete. Only one (1) band change will be allowed per person in one (1) competition season (school band exception).

Registration of the registered instructor occurs by the instructed band's designation of the instructor on their band's competition roster and the submittal of the registered instructor form to the MWPBA Band Registrar.

Note: a player's membership in a pipe band does not convey Individual Membership to compete in solo competitions.

2017 Registered Instructor Application

You may be a registered instructor for only one (1) band in grade 3, 4 or 5; and cannot be an instructor for a band in the same grade as the band in which they are a regular registered member. The position of Registered Instructor cannot be changed during one season.

Registered Instructor registration must be submitted by March 31.  (Bands newly registering after this date are excepted.)

Regrade Petition Form

If you are now in Grade 4 or above and want to compete at a higher grade, you must submit a Grading Application (also known as a Regrade Petition) to the Music Board postmarked on or before March 31.

New members registering at Novice or Grade 4 do not need to submit a Regrade Petition form, and need only inform the Solo Registrar of the correct grade when registering.

If you have competed one or more years at either Junior Novice or Senior Novice, you may regrade yourself to Grade 4 when you re-register for the year.  There is no need to submit a Regrade Petition in this case.

If you are a new applicant for MWPBA membership at Grade 3 or higher or transferring from another association to the MWPBA at Grade 3 or higher, you must file a Grading Application with the Music Board.

Regrades are effective 21 days after approval, so submit this form early!
